Christopher M. Beares focuses his practice on transactional and licensing matters and civil and criminal litigation.

Prior to joining Dhar Law, LLP, Chris practiced as a solo practitioner in Boston, Massachusetts.  While maintaining his general affairs practice, Chris held an appointment as an associate at a Harvard University affiliated healthcare organization where he negotiated large scale transactional affairs related to business development, technology transfer, research, grants and licensing.  In addition to his own cases and transactional work, Chris also provided support to a small civil litigation firm.  Chris has practiced before Massachusetts’ Federal, Superior and District Courts, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.  
 
Chris earned his J.D. from New England School of Law and his B.A. in French Language and Literature from the Pennsylvania State University, University Park.  He is admitted to practice before the state courts of Massachusetts and the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.  He is a member of the Boston Bar Association and Massachusetts Bar Association.
 
Representative Cases:

  • Successfully negotiated several large-scale transactions between a Harvard University affiliated healthcare institution and large pharmaceutical companies.
  • Successfully obtained dismissal of charges involving minimum mandatory sentencing for controlled substance distribution offenses.
  • Obtained dismissal of charges on a question of competency.
  • Obtained a dismissal of charges on a possession of a controlled substance charge.
  • Obtained a civil judgment and successfully sought criminal charges against an unlicensed contractor.
  • Obtained acquittal for charges of multiple abuse prevention order violations.
